Maximizing space with a new bathroom layout

One of the most noticeable changes in the remodel was the expansion of the shower area. The original 3x3 shower was far too small for comfort. By extending the shower by about a foot and a half, we created a much more spacious and luxurious showering experience. The homeowners also opted for a frameless glass shower enclosure, which opened up the space visually and gave the bathroom a sleek, modern aesthetic.

The wall by the shower was reconfigured to improve the layout further. The old swing door to the toilet area was replaced with a convenient pocket door, saving space and enhancing the bathroom’s flow.

Modern Bathroom Design Meets Functionality 

In addition to changing the layout, we made thoughtful design updates to modernize the space. The original angled tub in this Allen, TX home was replaced with a streamlined soaking tub. To further elevate the bathroom’s aesthetic, we installed subway tiles vertically, a subtle design detail that adds height and elegance to the walls.

Storage was a top priority for the homeowners, and we delivered by adding new custom cabinetry and a central tower to the vanity. The original bathroom setup lacked sufficient storage, so we made sure to maximize this opportunity by including plenty of drawer and cabinet space. The vanity still features two separate sink stations (as before) but with upgraded cabinetry, soft-close drawers, and a modern Shaker-style design.

Another major update is the inclusion of LED mirrors at each station, which combine form and function. These mirrors provide optimal lighting for daily routines and enhance the bathroom's overall modern vibe.

Smart Choices for Finishes and Fixtures

The final touches in this remodel tie everything together. Matte black fixtures, including a new Kohler toilet, bring a bold contrast to the soft, neutral palette of the tiles and walls. The frameless glass shower door, combined with the subway tile walls, adds a contemporary touch, while the patterned floor tiles bring a layer of texture and visual interest without overpowering the design.
